AquaCert (“AquaCert,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) provides online continuing-education courses for wastewater operators. This policy explains what information we collect when you use our website and courses, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Information we collect

We collect the information needed to provide courses and issue continuing-education certificates:

• Account information — your email address and a securely hashed password when you create an account.
• Identity for your certificate — your full legal name, and where a state requires it, your operator certificate/license number, certification class or grade, and resident state. This information appears on the certificate you earn and in the records we are required to keep.
• Learning activity — the courses you enroll in, your progress, quiz completion, and the certificates issued to you (including a public verification code).
• Payment information — payments are processed by our payment provider, Stripe. We do not receive or store your full card number. We retain a record that a payment was made and confirmation details returned by Stripe.
• Technical information — basic information your browser sends (such as IP address and device/browser type) and cookies necessary to keep you signed in and secure the site.

How we use your information

• To create and administer your account and let you sign in.
• To deliver courses, track your progress, and issue and verify your certificates.
• To process payments and provide receipts.
• To send you essential account and transactional email (for example, account confirmation and certificate-related messages).
• To maintain the records that continuing-education regulators require of an approved provider.
• To secure the service, prevent fraud, and comply with our legal obligations.

How your certificate is verified publicly

Each certificate carries a unique verification code. Anyone with that code can confirm a certificate’s authenticity on our verification page, which displays the certificate number, the name it was issued to, the course, the provider, the state course number, and the completion date. This exists so employers and licensing boards can validate your credit. Do not share your verification code with anyone you don’t want to be able to view those details.

When we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with:

• Service providers who help us run the service — our payment processor (Stripe), our email delivery provider, and our database and application hosting providers — and only as needed to provide the service.
• Regulators, where we are required to report or make records available as an approved continuing-education provider.
• Legal and safety — when required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users and our service.

Data retention

We keep your account and course records for as long as your account is active and for as long as we are required to retain continuing-education records under applicable state rules, after which we delete or anonymize them.

Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and to promptly address any issues.

Your choices and rights

You may review and update your account information while signed in, and you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information by contacting us at support@aquacertllc.com. Note that we may need to retain certain records to meet regulatory continuing-education requirements even after an account is closed. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under applicable privacy laws.

Children’s privacy

AquaCert is intended for working professionals and is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date above and, where appropriate, notify you. Your continued use of the service after an update means you accept the revised policy.
